ELR (EXTENDED LONG RANGE), 27-28 OCTOBER 2024; CAMEO SHOOTING COMPLEX, PALISADE COLORADO
ELR (EXTENDED LONG RANGE), 27-28 OCTOBER 2024; CAMEO SHOOTING COMPLEX, PALISADE COLORADO
The ELR Course is designed to give shooters a solid foundation in ELR (Extended Long Range) shooting while engaging targets out to 2000 yards. Understanding how to get the best data possible, isolate and address the small factors that gain importance with range, and allow ourselves the highest likelihood of a first round impact. Learning how to select and maximize the capability of the equipment we have.
Topics stressed during this course:
ELR equipment and ammunition optimization
Extensive look at external ballistics factors and how to correct for them
Affects of parallax and lighting conditions
Ultra precise data building and calibration
Using G7 BC’s versus custom curves
Bullet flight curve analysis
Recalibrating for subsonic flight
Maintaining an ELR data book
ELR strategy
Ballistic software
Calling impacts and splash
Prerequisites:
Self-sufficiency with both zeroing and ballistic software
Baseline understanding of wind indicators and correction
Capable of holding 1MOA accuracy
Physical difficulty level: Low
Equipment Requirements:
Notebook, calculator, pens and/or pencils
200 rounds of match grade ammunition capable of producing 1MOA or better accuracy (you may bring more if you desire but this is the projected minimum)
Zeroed rifle - Zeroes will be confirmed before the course can progress but please be close so we only have to make minor corrections.
Bolt Action or Semi-Auto Rifle capable of 1MOA or better accuracy. Recommended calibers between .223 and .338 with a maximum muzzle velocity of 3200 ft/s. We recommend a minimum ballistic equivalency of 6.5 Creedmoor but we have also used a 224 Valkyrie to hit 2000 yard targets. Think about it this way, the further out it takes for your bullets goes Sub-Mach 1 the more ballistic horse power you have and the “easier” it is to hit far off targets. In doing so though we would prefer to not compromise accuracy…. Accuracy is more important than horsepower. Whatever you bring is fine but extra horse power increases our hit probability… Ultimately this is a learning environment and not a competition!
Rifle scope with subtended reticle and target turrets.
Bipod and sand sock (loaner sand socks are available during the course)
Eye and ear protection
Some rental equipment will be available, but please coordinate this with us prior to the first day of training. Equipment available includes, but is not limited to: rifles, scopes, slings, ammunition, bipods, sand socks, and ruck sacks.
Recommended: Class will be held in field conditions so plan and be prepared for the unpredictable weather. Suggested packing list includes, but is not limited to: Sun screen, water, food, gloves, layered clothing, baseball or boonie cap, rain gear, knee and elbow pads, shooting mat, chronograph and Kestrel (we have loaners if you don’t have these) etc.
Logistics
TUITION; includes all range fees and instruction (does not include meals or housing). Seating is limited & capped based on first come, first serve via website enrollments.
