Here's what a few of our customers have said about our training!

-------------

I just want to thank you for your PR1 and PR2 class'.  I at first thought the PR1 would be beneath me as I had already shot some matches, however, I still learned a lot and am glad you made me take it.  My biggest problem was learning the winds but with the simple and easier way to think about winds it made it so much easier to understand.   I always got caught up trying to overthink winds instead of just trying to simplify the process.  The Kestrel is a great tool if you use it correctly, which I was not.  Shooting with buddies I learned some but not in the correct manor as you pointed out.

I would have never thought about the practical side of .22 practice without your guidance.  .22 takes all the same mechanics but a less cost (made it fun as well).  Funny how you can do all the fundamentals with a .22 (mostly building a position) as well as checking level, adjust parallax and finding targets on the clock.

PR2 reinforced PR1 and then focused on the real Practical side of shooting on the competitive side under more stress.  It was great to have someone right there to correct my mistakes instead of me thinking I was doing everything correctly.  I still need to practice more on what you have taught me but now I believe a have a good grasp of the right way to train and how to focus on what is important and what is just fluff.  It was also great to shoot stages to focus on what I was doing wrong.

Thank you again,

Sincerely,

SGM(R) Scott Hawkins

“Last weekend Melanie Wall- Ulmer and I went to the Blue Steel Ranch to do some precision rifle training with Brian Whalen of Colorado Precision Rifle in his PR3 course.  I’ve known Brian for several years and have been talking with him about doing it for quite a while now.  Brian brings a ton of experience to the table. You can immediately tell that he really enjoys teaching and he’s very good at it.  I’ve been stumbling through training Melanie since January, and she’s made a ton of progress, but I knew that she needed someone with better teaching skills to reach her potential.
There were students in this class of varying skill levels and Brian spent a lot of time with each one teaching to their particular level. I came away from the course with a lot of things to work on, and some drills to use to help me improve in those areas where I need improvement.
I highly recommend his courses to any of my shooting friends who want to see improvement in their skill level.”

“My interest in Brian’s classes was for hunting. I wanted to improve my shooting skill to a comfort level

of at least 500 yds. These classes taught me how to set up the rifle, determine the correct settings for

the range, establish a stable shooting position, and judge with crosswind successfully. Since then, I

have taken deer out to 400 yds and never missed anything under 350 yds. Brian’s teaching style is

thoughtful and calm. He tailors his instruction to your needs, skills, and areas of improvement. Above

all else the class is conducted in an extremely safe manner.”

“As someone who has built companies centered around adult learning, I have very high standards when I look for coaching.
Without hesitation I can say Colorado Precision Rifle/Brian Whalen is a natural at instructing adults in the art of long-range precision shooting. He covered all the steps: 1) explanation, 2) modelling, 3) has the student engage in deliberate practice, 4) then opens up to student questioning and, 4) gives feedback.
Colorado Precision Rifle, Brian Whalen’s instruction is the best I have experienced in the competitive shooting arena. If you are looking for an instructor who will help you improve your competitive skills, I’d highly recommend Colorado Precision Rifle/Brian Whalen.”

“I just got back a few weeks ago from New Mexico after spending a week there with Colorado Precision Rifle in two of their classes. I enjoyed it immensely and learned a lot, even with the experience I already had. Brian and Andy are great teachers and the price is more than competitive. I strongly recommend them if you're looking for long-range classes ranging from the basics to the advanced.”

“The last few days have been quite the adventure. Upon the advice of my Vortex Rep, Tom Kane, I traveled down to Logan New Mexico to participate in Brian Whalen’s Colorado Precision Shooting School Colorado Precision Rifle.
I will be honest, I was unsure what to expect and what to learn. My primary focus was to learn more about utilizing a ballistic calculator and ballistic turrets. I mean, I’m a hold over guy. That is how I learned to shoot and continued to do so. I understood the concept of utilizing a ballistic calculator and turrets, but just assumed it was for the range posers that wore sponsored shirts right?
Man, did I have quite a bit to learn. Not only did I learn about utilizing a ballistic calculator, turrets and using a chronograph to tie all of this in, but additional fundamentals that I was able to visually experience, shoot and adjust to bring it all together. A good example is reading wind, how it continually shifts and the manipulation it has on long shots. My 6mm creed is a fast round, out to 600 yards the wind adjustment was not bad, but at 700 yards the round had lost enough speed that the wind drift was massive.
Not only did we get some amazing instruction from Brian and Steve, but we spent tons of time on the range tuning our guns and then stretching the barrels a bit. I can honestly say, i made the longest shots I have ever made. And not just once, but consecutive shots.
In the end, I cannot say enough good things about the class. Instruction was top notch, lodging at the Blue Steel Ranch was amazing and quiet, and the time shooting was epic. I watched a young man who had never shot a rifle bang the shit out of the 1,000 yard going on Saturday Afternoon with a .223 AI.
I cannot say enough good things. Hit Brian up If you have any interest in learning long range shooting or advanced shooting techniques.
Be prepared to be challenged, have the most fun you can have with your cloths on and bring your mom best jokes.”
Thanks again!

If you're looking for an introductory class in long-range shooting, don't overlook Colorado Precision Rifle's 3 day class. It was well run, extremely informative, and way fun. For me, it was exactly what I was looking for. I'd gone about as far as I could self-taught, and this filled in the blanks, and then some. Pawnee's 1800 acres really did the job. From the long-range area, to the back country set-ups, we had numerous targets at various distances and sizes. Enough wind to make it a challenge, but not so much as to make it impossible. I'm looking forward to the intermediate and advanced class!

The class (3 day intro to Long Range Precision Shooting) was extremely fun and interesting. I look forward to having an intermediate/advanced class. It was very clear and apparent that Ron and Brian have a drive to teach & share their experiences, I really felt like you guys wanted to see us be successful. The knowledge that I gained from attending this class has given me a lot more drive to practice, advance, and hopefully be able to pursue shooting competitively. I would definitely do everything I could to attend any classes you may have in the future.

Brian Whalen, of Colorado Precision Rifle, is the best resource a competitive long range shooter can have. His experience and knowledge is second to none. His Advanced Shooting Skills Course was tailored to exactly what we were looking for and more! His classroom presentation and field instruction is easy to understand and to the point. I took away an immense amount of information and practical knowledge that I can now fall back on when challenged in competition; from simple positional corrections to tricks for complex target lead formulas. Whether you are an experienced competitor or a novice to the sport – you will take away a wealth of information.

I consider myself an intermediate to advanced shooter. I signed up for the class with the intent of getting a few things out of it. I was wrong. Brian covered the topics thoroughly and in depth during the classroom portion. He made sure every question was answered. The actual shooting portion was where it all came together. If anyone had any difficulties he would spend the time demonstrating technique and work one on one with you. Bottom line, money well spent.
